Welcome to NZ Stamps!

Kia Ora, and welcome to the NZ Stamps.   This site is under construction and there's a lot to do!  But I've decided to make it available as we go so folk can enjoy the journey - I'm going to. 😁

I hope to provide a space for learning and discussing New Zealand's rich history of postage stamps.  Journey with me as I delve into the rich tapestry of New Zealand's postal history, one stamp at a time.  From the iconic Chalons to the contemporary designs celebrating Maori culture, from the cinderellas of Great Barrier Island Pigeon Post to the vast array of varieties created by printing errors, design faux pas, or Post Office distribution errors (and maybe the odd bit of skullduggery!).

My blogs (and hopefully others) will aim to enlighten, educate, and excite both novice enthusiasts and seasoned philatelists.  With each post, I hope to paint a picture of New Zealand's diverse heritage, landscapes, and milestones—all beautifully encapsulated in these miniature pieces of art.  Whether you're a passionate collector, a history aficionado, or someone intrigued by the world of philately, NZ Stamps Forum promises to be a treasure trove of stories, facts, and insights.

Join us in exploring the legacy and beauty of New Zealand's stamps. Let's stamp our way through history!

Disclaimer

I don't claim to be an expert in NZ philately.  Rather, a very keen hobbyist.  In fact one of my key personal objectives is to learn as much as I can by building this site - that's why I'm doing it.  So anything you read on this site written by me is my view, my opinion or based on my own research unless I reference the statements to the original author.  If you disagree with something, let me know.  I'm keen to discuss, debate and learn from anyone.

I have been collecting for a few decades now and over that time have certainly learned a thing or two.  But stamps are like any other subject. The more you immerse yourself in the subject and the more mistakes you make, the more you learn, and most importantly the more enjoyable it gets.  Please don't hesitate to reach out to challenge, to share, or to ask questions - I'm here to help and to learn.

Certainly, two of the intended consequences of this site is to encourage people to collect NZ stamps and to learn about NZ history - they're both pretty awesome.
